Pupa Description

Differs from H. februa by having widely separated head horns; two dark green stripes run from cremaster to head.

Adults Description

Distinguished from Hamadryas feronia by the large size, larger submarginal ocelli on both wings, and large pale area on hindwing underside.

Habits Description

Occurs from sea level to 1,000 m, in association with all forest habitats of Costa Rica, although commonest in deciduous forests, where it can be very abundant during the rainy season.
